4th Annual Arizona Agriculture Literacy Days (November 23-25, 2009) November 23 Other
Do children really know where our food comes from? Unfortunately, many only think of the supermarket and forget (or are oblivious to the fact) that it all starts on the farms and ranches. This year, during the 4th Annual Arizona Agriculture Literacy Days (November 23-25, 2009), take 20 minutes on one of these three days to visit a near-by elementary school and read Living on Farms to a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade classroom. By briefly giving of yourself, you will help the upcoming generation see how connected we all are to agriculture. Its easy to do. First, think of the children in your life. It may be your own child, niece/nephew, or grandchild; it could also be some kids in your neighborhood, or even those at the elementary school whom you smile at as you drive to work. Second, contact the schools librarian, and have her/him coordinate your visit with a classroom (or you can contact a teacher directly). Finally, contact Brandon Moak (BMoak@cals.arizona.edu; 602-827-8200 x 389) no later than NOV 12 to receive the book to read & donate; Ill need your name & mailing address and the schools name & district. Time is precious, but so are the children and the memories that you will create for them and yourself. Create meaningful memories today.
